Green Tracks

"Blue Is The New Green" is one of our catchphrases at Blue Circle and we do love eco-friendly initiatives! That, for example, is why we went to the Docu-Sign system of electronic document delivery and reduced our paper use by 60%. Needless to say, when I saw this cool little contest which advocates and encourages recycling efforts, I though it worth sharing.
Our friends at The Karo Group are helping their client, Alberta Beverage Container Recycling Corporation (ABCRC) celebrate an amazing achievement by Albertans, who recycled an incredible 2 billion beverage containers last year!! That's right....2 billion!!
In collaboration with CBC Music, ABCRC brought together 3 Alberta bands -The Dudes, Woodpigeon, and Reuben and The Dark - asking them to create instruments using empty beverage containers and perform one of their songs, which CBC filmed. CBC Music will be hosting the videos on Green Tracks and will run a contest asking Albertans to vote on their favourite. The winning band will get to donate $5000.00 to the charity of their choice and voters will be entered into a weekly draw for a Simon and Patrick guitar.
Click on the Green Tracks link, check out the great tunes, and vote for your favourite! Maybe you'll win the guitar and start your own band!
And...keep up the fantastic recycling effort people!!

Rat Bikes And Other Oddities

Even though I poke a little fun at some of these bikes, I do like a bike that was put together by an enthusiast who wants to do it himself and get out and ride it too. These bikes aren't winning any beauty contests but they have their own sense of cool.

Maybe not a true ratter but pretty cool in all black

Is this guy a prospector?

Croc skin seats, etc

Lots of add-ons

Crazy rims

A natural patina on this 'paint job'

Pre-Evo

I have a feeling this bike is loud

For use in No Mans Land

Passenger beware

The cheetah print seat is a nice touch

Harley Davidson of Edmonton Open House

Blue Circle was over at Harley Davidson of Edmonton on Saturday to help celebrate their Open House. Lots of bikes, lots of prizes, lots of great deals, and lots and lots of people! There were plenty who rode over despite the frigid temperatures and about 40 riders took part in the H.O.G. organized ride. I was set up at a table with Trina Hennig, who runs the Edge Motorcycle Training, and we had plenty of visitors interested in getting themselves protected, with both some valuable training and some excellent insurance coverage! Thank you to Brandie Evans, Marketing and Events Co-ordinator, for inviting us up to help celebrate and we had a fun day with the friendly crew at H-D Edmonton.

Party time!

Rolling another bike out the door!

It was a bit chilly to stay outdoors too long to eat but the burgers were great

Blue Circle shared some space with Trina Hennig, owner and chief instructor of Edge Motorcycle training

Despite the 5°C temperature, there were plenty who rode

Attach two sided tape to balloon and tie with extra long twine, then  feed out twine until balloon touches run-away ballon stuck on 30' ceiling!

Japan meets Harley...Japan modifies Harley...Rider gets cool bike! Minimalistic and vintage inspired form and function with custom work done by Shinya Kimura at Zero Engineering.
Nice profile, especially with that big, fat front tire

Porsche...Motorcycle?

A couple of feature bikes from legendary car maker Porsche. The red bike is a concept put together by Porsche themselves but the black beast is a tribute bike built by CustomWolf of Germany.
