Poet Laureate

We went to see 'Venus In Furs' last night, the first play in the new Alberta Theatre Projects 2014/2015 season. An excellent play, by the way, and it has us very excited for the rest of the season, that's for sure. However, this post is more about an artist who's work we saw in the Epcor Centre, Calgary's new 'Poet Laureate' derek beaulieu. And yes, derek does not capitalize his name, so that spelling is correct.
derek also had the honour of being the Epcor Centre's inaugural artist in residence which was how we were able to see his work. The Epcor Centre dedicates quite a bit of wall space for local artists to display their work and also has studio space for workshops, or in this case, an artist in residence.

The public was welcome to come in and put their own words on paper

derek's work was projected on to the Calgary Tower

Always thinking!

There is something physical about a typewriter and it's output
