Our industry friends over at Hagerty Insurance sent along their monthly newsletter and it's always full of great info for car buffs, especially collectors and restorers of vintage and classic cars. That's their area of expertise and they are considered to be tops when it comes to insuring these specialty vehicles, so there's no doubting their knowledge and experience.
Here's a great tip for people who store their collector cars for the Winter, but it's also useful in the home, garage, storage shed, cabin, or in your travel trailer when they're not in use. As a matter of fact, I, myself, have used this trick for many years and can attest to how effective a dryer sheet can be to keep out rodents. Pretty much everyone has some form of a dryer sheet if they own a dryer and though 'Bounce' is a well known brand, any type of dryer sheet is effective.
It seems that mice (no rats here in Alberta!!) absolutely hate the smell of them and a few well placed sheets can repel the critters and keep them out of your space. In our trailer, we stuff them into cracks and lay them in cupboards and cubby holes, and they really do work, though you have to remember that they need to be replaced regularly. A low cost way to keep the critters away.

Once they get in, they will make a mess until they eventually get trapped or or die from the poisoned bait boxes. |
A fine example of where a rodent might typically squeeze through into your house or trailer |
