G.T.O. To Go

Our pals over at Hagerty Insurance offer up specialty products for vintage and classic vehicles, everything from motorcycles to tractors and boats, and cars of course. They produce an interesting little video series titled "The Wrenchmen", about a couple of mechanically minded fellows who go around and help classic car owners tweak their rebuilds and restorations and get those great rides back on the road.

I picked this particular video to show because I've had the pleasure of driving a G.T.O. once, and riding in a few others in my many years. The G.T.O. was a John DeLorean inspired muscle car before DeLorean went off to build his signature cars and get "Back To The Future" :)
Essentially, he took the 4 banger out of the base model Pontiac Tempest and dropped in a big block V8 for some giddy up. The car can be accredited with starting the Amercian muscle car trend and the Gran Tourismo Omologato became so popular that it soon became its own model.
