Gerry and myself, along with our buddies K2 and Micheal, were recently invited to a little '
Don Julio' tequila tasting party hosted by the awesome folks at '
Anejo Restaurant'. With a most unusual 'welcome cocktail' mixed by Don Julio rep Joel Virginillo, we settled into some serious discussion about the difference between the 1942 and the 70. Soon we were served up our first tasty dish, the start of many concocted by Matt and Kevin in the Anejo kitchen, and meant to tie in nicely with the cocktail (along the lines of a Manhattan, with bitters and vermouth...very nice!). As good as that was, from there it just got better and better, with each of the tequilas pairing perfectly with the various dishes that emerged from the creative hands of our host chefs. The trout was amazing and I loved the guajillo and pasilla crust on the lamb. Don't let the photo fool ya, Micheal wouldn't have been able to eat that much of the lamb and we wouldn't have let him!! haha.
All in all, an amazing evening with some good friends and some fine tequila, so thanks you to Jay, Cliff and Demia from Anejo and Joel from Don Julio for allowing us to share the experience!
