Blue Circle has a great relationship with
Travelers Canada, whose products and service we are pleased to recommend to many of our clients. But Travelers isn't just a company selling insurance to people, they're involved in helping build the community in which those those people live. One of Travelers primary products involves home insurance so it seems logical to get involved in a worthy cause of helping build a home.
We know that many people find themselves in the situation where they may never even have a hope of owning their own home were it not for the assistance of someone like the great group of people at '
Habitat For Humanity', a non-profit organization that is working toward a world where everyone has a safe and decent place to live. Their mission is to mobilize volunteers and community partners in building affordable housing, and promoting homeownership as a means of breaking the cycle of poverty. Needless to say, it's an easy fit for Travelers and Blue Circle alike, since we share the same sentiments and want to be involved.
So, Blue Circle Prez, Gerry Baert, took the invitation from Laura Bock of Travelers Canada to join in with a day of building and graciously allowed Dirk, Sanjay, Sarah and myself to pick up the hammers and lend a hand. Despite some gloomy and wet skies, we had a great day of fun and work, with an awesome group of volunteers, all pitching in to build a family's new home!
