The Mule:
Lovingly nick named "The Mule", this motorcycle was Team Zeus' very first project.
Their aim was to convert an existing
gasoline motorcycle to electric, using a budget of under $1000, and with as little
outside help as possible. The team was quite successful and produced a
fully functional electric motorcycle while learning a wealth of knowledge.
Phase Two of the project is to upgrade to a more powerful motor built from scratch. They're using modified blueprints from an ebook called " The Axel Borg Motor", an in-hub motor that should allow the Mule to hit highway speeds.
Currently, that portion of the project has been put on hold as the team has bigger ambitions at this time and is currently working on 'The Zephyr' ( the Greek god of wind!). Check out tomorrow's blog for the scoop on that bike! Phase Two of the Mule will always remain as a project for the future, and on which new generations of first years can learn.
