Prairie Mountain sounds like an oxymoron....prairie...mountain...but is really so named because when you're at the summit you can see a beautiful view of prairie lands on one side and mountains on the other.
It's a short 3.8 km hike but it's pretty much steep uphill the whole way and has a 762m elevation gain, so your work is cut out for you, that's for sure. It's still snowy and icy in many sections and the 'Katoolahs' were a necessity. Put the chains on!! Haha.
It was a beautiful day, fairly warm and sunny, though pretty windy up top. a great way to spend a Sunday morning with my son and the dogs.

| Heading into K-Country |
| The first portion of the trail is clear of snow |
| Lots of snow up here still |
| Chained up |
| Some serious spikes on these bad boys |
| One of the only flat spots on the trail |
| Getting some nice viewpoints as we climb higher |
| Still a lot of snow on the peaks |
| I caught up with this hiker, and we traded off taking each others photos at the summit |
| Looking east over the prairie side |
| At the summit, looking west toward the mountains |
| Heading back down |
| It doesn't look as steep as it actually was in real life |
| I met Devin as he went back up for his second climb |
| Stevie wasn't sure if she should stay with me and go down, or keep going up with Devin |
