Living near to the Elbow River, but well up on high ground, we looked down in trepidation for those not so safe from the flood threat.
My daughter and her boyfriend had to evacuate their place in Mission and we assisted friends in Erlton, getting them out of their condo. They have underground parking and it could well be full of water at this time, so we rolled their bikes out and they now grace my street.
Still, as the parent of a firefighter, I am thankful to everyone who had the decency to obey the evacuation order. Nothing more maddening than to see first responders getting in harms way to rescue people who choose to be above the law.

Looking down at the Elbow River form Scotman's Hill, you can see the water level is high. |
