Just hanging out in Canmore, up on Douglas Fir Bench, which is part of Silvertip. A nice panoramic view of the valley and the range, and the chalet is warm and cozy. Did a couple of small hikes and a trail run, checked out some local hoodoos, came across a herd of elk and had our chalet neighbour warn me and our dog, Rex, about cougars. It seems that the news we watched the other day was about the same 2 cougars that came up on their back deck and took their dog. A traumatic event, particularly for their kids, so good to be reminded that despite being in an urban setting, this is still wild country.
